Kinky Friedman for Governor?

Yes, it's true. Texas' favorite son, musician/author/
humorist Richard "Kinky" Friedman has thrown his hat
into the ring and announced his run for the 2006 race
for governor. He's running as an Independent, which
works for me. I don't have much use for either the
Rat-publicans or the Lame-ocrats these days.

I'm not 100% sure that he's serious about this,
but look at the guys and gals who are serious
about politics, and a half-serious eccentric
might not seem like such a bad alternative.

"The professionals gave us the Titanic, amateurs
gave us the Ark. Career politicians are ribbon
cutters. They see the governor's office as a job;
I see it as an opportunity to make that Lone Star
shine again."
